Application procedure for Higher education in Finland

The application period closes between the last few months of each year and the beginning of the new year in January. In the beginning you will apply with your information. Apply through Study Info website. After applying, the details will be sent to your email. Exam date and time will be informed through email.

Here you are selected and given an offer letter through the entrance exam. Usually the entrance exam is held in the month of February-March.

The entrance exam is conducted in two stages. First MCQ or Written as many call it. After passing the written exam, you will be notified again by email. After that, you will be notified by email for the second step. The second step is group discussion.

In group discussion phase a topic is given and asked to write on that topic. And written submissions are asked to discuss with other group members.

After passing the group discussion you will be given the offer letter by email. Varsities are placed in the offer letter or waiting list according to the number order of the varsity seats.

Separate application

Separate application in Higher education in Finland is the rule of applying separately to each university. Here you can apply for your desired university or subjects. According to the requirements of the university, you can apply on their website.

In case of separate application, many varsities take the exam, while many varsities do not take the exam and give offer letter depending on the background and your score. In this case, SAT score, IELTS score, work experience etc. are very useful.
